Why Emergency
Preparedness?
Preparedness is often considered as keeping a few extra cans of food, a couple of extra gallons of water stored away, and maybe some extra flashlight batteries. After Studying emergencies and disasters for over 20 years in multiple capacities, preparedness is a state of physical and mental being. It is being able to process the shifting world around you and proactively change yourself and your surroundings to give you the best outcome to those changes. To be "prepared" is to be in a constant state of awareness and readiness, looking to the horizon for new challenges however they present themselves. This approach means consistently testing systems and evaluating new and old methods to see what works and what doesn't. Preparedness is as much a state of being as it is the "stuff" we keep to get us through the next "crisis." As Darwin once said, "It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself."
My Story
Preparedness and self-reliance have been my passion since I was a little kid. Boy Scouts, world travel, the Marines, working in security, and living in large city centers have shaped how I see the world through the lens of self-preparedness. The past five years in America have shown us some ugly realities of the current culture and how grossly reliant we are on supply chains and established infrastructure. My own experiences during the pandemic and living in Philadelphia during the riots opened my eyes to how many holes and failure points I had in my emergency plan. More importantly, the system itself was flawed in more ways than one. I had always had a plan for myself but had never really adapted that plan to meet new changes in my life. Nothing tests an emergency plan like an actual emergency. While we were able to adapt and ended up being ok, I realized there were a lot of things, specifically the framework, that needed to be changed. After 25+ years preparedness and survival, the past 3 years have been devoting just that, how to practically and purposefully build a adaptive, well thought out framework for both creating and executing a plan in emergencies and disasters. Life changes, financial hardship, unknown future, emerging dangers are all
things we'll face at one point. But with a good plan and guidance we can and
will preserver. My goal is to help you achieve that to give the peace of mind
needed so you can focus on enjoying life.

Looking forward to helping you on your journey into preparedness.
